What each Set for Life division pays
Set for Life draws nine numbers from 44 every day of the year. The first seven are the winning numbers and the last two are supplementaries. You play seven numbers in each game, and there are eight prize divisions.

Divisions 1 and 2 are set amounts, paid from a reserve fund rather than the day’s prize pool. Divisions 3 to 8 are paid as a lump sum, and their size depends on that day’s sales and on how many entries matched.
Supplementaries count only alongside winning numbers, in Divisions 2, 4, 6 and 8. Under the game permit, 63.25% of gross subscriptions goes to prizes. That’s 37.25% for the daily prize pool, which pays Divisions 3 to 8, and 26.00% for a reserve fund covering Divisions 1 and 2 and promotional prizes.
How the $20,000 a month works
Lotterywest’s game page spells it out. Division 1 is $200,000 upfront and $20,000 a month for 20 years, so the first instalment is $220,000. Over the 20 years that comes to $5 million per winner, and the amount holds for up to four winners in one draw.
Division 2 follows the same pattern on a smaller scale: $20,000 upfront and $5,000 a month for one year, so the first instalment is $25,000. Lotterywest’s results list it at $80,000 per winner.
When a draw has more than four winners in a division, they share a fixed total. According to Lotterywest’s FAQ, five or more Division 1 winners share $800,000 upfront and $80,000 a month for 20 years. Division 2 winners beyond four share $80,000 upfront and $20,000 a month for 12 months.
These amounts come from the current game permit, which starts at draw 4057 on 14 September 2026. For earlier draws, Lotterywest’s results show Division 1 at $4,800,000 and Division 2 at $60,000 per winner, so figures from before that date look different.
Outside WA and Queensland, Oz Lotteries sells Set for Life tickets online for the next daily draw. Division 1 is a set amount for up to four winners, whatever the day’s sales.

These are the odds for one game in one draw, as Lotterywest publishes them, with each division’s share of the daily prize pool under the game permit.

The chance of winning any prize with one game is 1 in 51. Division 1 is 1 in 38,320,568, which is simply the number of different seven-number sets you can make from 44. A standard ticket has one game in each of seven draws, and every one of those games has these odds.
For comparison, one Powerball game has a 1 in 134,490,400 chance of Division 1, as the Powerball prizes and divisions guide shows. Set for Life is also the only one of the five national games on this site drawn by a random number generator rather than a ball machine.
Rule 114 of WA’s lottery rules provides for the random generation of its nine numbers, using equipment the Lotteries Commission determines.
Our archive of Lotterywest’s results shows how those odds played out this year. From 1 January to 27 September 2026, Division 1 was won in 14 of 270 draws, each time by a single entry. Division 2 went unwon in 144 draws, while Divisions 3 to 8 had winners every day.
Division 8 and the other cash prizes
Division 8 needs three winning numbers and one supplementary. It’s the most common win, at 1 in 81 per game, and it takes the largest share of the daily pool: 52.40% under the game permit. That share is split between everyone who matched, so the amount changes every day.
Division 7, four winning numbers, gets 28.20%, and Division 6, four plus a supplementary, gets 10.60%.
The table below starts at draw 4057 on 14 September 2026, the first draw under the current permit, so every row reflects today’s prize structure. It gains a draw every day, with dividends as published by Lotterywest; where our numbers come from explains how we copy them.

Divisions 7 and 8 split their shares separately, so Division 8 sometimes pays more than Division 7. From 1 January to 27 September 2026 that happened in 17 of 270 draws, most recently in draw 4070 on 27 September.
Buying a ticket and claiming a prize
In WA, Lotterywest’s price list has Set for Life at $5.60 for one game in each of seven consecutive daily draws, or 80 cents a game. You can start a ticket on any day and enter up to six draws in advance. Systems are no longer available for Set for Life.
Lotterywest closes sales at 7:00 pm AWST each day, which is 9:00 pm AEST, or 10:00 pm AEDT in NSW, Victoria, the ACT and Tasmania from 4 October. Outside WA and Queensland, Oz Lotteries sells the game online as an authorised reseller of The Lottery Corporation.

In WA, prizes up to $500 on a paper ticket are paid by any Lotterywest retailer, and larger prizes are claimed at head office in Subiaco or by mail. Division 1 is claimed at head office after a 14-day validation. You have 12 months from the draw date to claim.
