The frequency table

The counts start at draw 1474 on 17 May 2022, the same starting point Lotterywest uses for its Oz Lotto frequency chart, and run to the latest draw. Our script counts them from Lotterywest’s full results archive.

Window: 229 draws, from draw 1474 on 17 May 2022 to draw 1702 on 29 September 2026. With 7 winning numbers from 47, each number would come up about 34.1 times as a winning number over that many draws if every number landed exactly its share.

Counted by our script from Lotterywest's full Oz Lotto archive and checked against the totals on Lotterywest's frequency chart (they match). Sorted by appearances as a winning number.

How to read the columns

Each row is one of the 47 numbers in the barrel.

  • As a winning number: how often it was one of the seven winning numbers.
  • As a supplementary: how often it was one of the three supplementaries.
  • Total: both together. This is the figure Lotterywest’s frequency chart shows, and ours match it.
  • Draws since last seen: how many draws ago the number last came out, either way. A 0 means it came up in the latest draw.

Prizes depend mostly on winning numbers, so the table is sorted by that column.

What the counts show

The figures in this section are a snapshot at draw 1701 on 22 September 2026; the table above moves on with every draw. By then the window held 228 draws, or 1,596 winning numbers in all. With 7 winning numbers from 47 each time, a number would come up about 34 times if every number landed exactly its share.

None did exactly. Number 21 leads with 51 appearances as a winning number, followed by 30 with 44 and 47 with 42. Then come 17 and 39 with 41 each, and 4 with 40.

At the other end, 11 and 15 came up 25 times each, and 16 came up 26 times. Most numbers sit near the average: 35 of the 47 landed between 29 and 39.

Number 5 had the longest gap at that point. It was last drawn in draw 1678 on 14 April 2026, 23 draws earlier, as either a winning number or a supplementary.

Supplementaries and totals

Supplementaries follow their own spread. With three drawn each time, a number would appear as a supplementary about 14 or 15 times over 228 draws. At draw 1701, number 40 had come up as a supplementary 23 times, and number 2 only 7 times.

Lotterywest’s frequency chart adds the two columns together, and on that measure the average is about 48.5. Number 21 led the totals with 63, ahead of 47 with 60, then 24 and 28 with 58 each. Numbers 11 and 15 had the lowest totals, 40 each.

Is 51 appearances unusual?

We wanted to know how far chance alone spreads the counts, so we ran a simulation. Our script played 228 fair Oz Lotto draws, 7 balls from 47, and repeated the whole window 20,000 times.

In a typical run, the most frequent number came up about 46 times, and in 8 runs out of 10 it landed between 43 and 50. A top number on 51 or more turned up in about 8% of runs, roughly 1 in 13.

The least frequent number usually sat around 23, so the 25 at the bottom of our table is ordinary. Number 21 sits at the high end of what fair draws produce, the kind of spread that turns up now and then in a window of this size.

What past draws don’t change

The WA Lotteries Rules describe each Oz Lotto draw as a “mechanical, equally random selection” of 10 balls numbered 1 to 47. Lotterywest’s FAQ says each number has an equal chance of being drawn. The balls carry no record of earlier draws.

So past draws don’t change the odds of the next draw. That’s a fact about the mechanics. Every set of seven numbers has the same 1 in 62,891,499 chance of Division 1 per game, whether it comes from the top of this table, the bottom or a family birthday.

In WA, every one of those games also costs the same $1.45. The odds of winning Oz Lotto page has the figure for every division.

Whichever seven numbers you settle on, Oz Lotteries sells games for Tuesday’s draw online as an authorised reseller of The Lottery Corporation.

What the table is good for

Plenty of people look up a number’s history out of curiosity. The table answers the usual questions straight from the archive. How long since a favourite number came up? Which number has appeared most since 2022? Who was right in the syndicate group chat?

It is also a check on us. The counts are rebuilt from Lotterywest’s complete archive each time, rather than added to by hand. Our totals are compared with Lotterywest’s frequency chart after each update, and if they ever disagree, the page doesn’t update until we find out why. More on that is on where our numbers come from.

For a particular draw, the latest Oz Lotto results list the winning numbers, the supplementaries and every dividend. To see which combinations win a prize, the Oz Lotto prize divisions guide covers all seven.
